As time passes, more and more members of the Democrat Party are beginning to recognize that Joe Biden is more of a liability than an asset.
Less than 24 months into his term, more than a handful of left-wing think pieces have been published, making the case as to why Biden shouldn’t run. Meanwhile, Democrats are repeatedly trying to steer clear of committing to directly endorsing Biden.
Because of Biden’s failed leadership, Democrats are on the verge of losing not just the House of Representatives, but also the Senate. Polling shows that most Americans are disaffected with the current president’s leadership, especially as it pertains to the economy.
Last week, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn was asked whether he supports the current president going for reelection in 2024. As reported by Washington Examiner, Clyburn’s reaction mirrored those of many others in his party.
Clyburn on Biden and 2024
While campaigning at a Democratic event in North Carolina, the House Majority Whip was asked about his feedback on Biden running for a second term.
Clyburn’s response was curt, with him stating that his current focus lies on the 2022 midterms. Later, the House Majority Whip declared he’s not going to direct his attention to the 2024 presidential election until the midterms have run their course.

Months back, Clyburn raised eyebrows when he spoke positively about Vice President Kamala Harris making a presidential run during the next election season.
All of this comes on the heels of Biden stumbling over himself in a recent MSNBC interview when questioned about if he’ll be running for president again and if his wife would be supportive of another presidential run.
A Unique Situation
In American politics, it is deeply uncommon for sitting congressional members not to endorse a president of their own party who is eligible for reelection.
At the end of the day, Biden is possibly the weakest candidate the Democrat Party could run in 2024. Many Democrats are well aware of this; yet, they don’t want to openly come out and say this for political reasons.

If the president tries to go for a second term, he will very likely face a crushing defeat at the hands of whichever Republican runs in the 2024 presidential election.
Then again, that’s assuming that Biden doesn’t get successfully primaried in 2024. Some Democrats, notably those on the progressive side, have floated the possibility of presenting a primary challenger to Biden before the general election kicks in.
If this happens, then just about anything is possible.
