As the 2020 presidential election continues to play out, immigration is being discussed more and more frequently. Virtually all of the Democrat candidates have maintained the incorrect narrative that President Trump is brutalizing illegal immigrants and asylum seekers at the Southern border. Democrats are also supportive of amnesty and even decriminalizing the act of illegally entering the United States altogether.
On Thursday, Joe Biden very clearly articulated his stance on immigration. While speaking at Clinton College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Biden provided quite an interesting analysis of illegal immigration.
Breitbart News reports Biden’s claim that illegal immigrants “become American” before American citizens do. Clearly, this is illogical and simply untrue. Sneaking across the border and remaining in the country afterward makes someone a criminal, not an American citizen.
Why Does Biden View Illegal Immigrants as American Citizens?
When explaining why he views illegal immigrants as more American than citizens of this country, Biden cited the actions of certain migrants who have unlawfully entered the country. The former vice president conveniently neglected to mention instances where illegal immigrants commit crimes against U.S. citizens. Instead, Biden lauded illegal immigrants as individuals who positively contribute to society.
His precise words on the matter read as follows:
“We have to find a pathway for Dreamers, these kids who come, and they end up doing well. They become American before a lot of Americans become Americans. No, I’m serious, they get in school, they do well; they contribute to the community, they contribute to the country.”
The former vice president also went on to allege that the Statue of Liberty is an invitation for illegal border crossings. Finally, Biden opined that border detention centers should be “closed down.”
Upholding the Law of the Land
At this point, it’s quite unfortunate that Biden would declare illegal immigrants as more American than U.S. citizens. It’s not only a slap in the face to the American people, but it also displays a chilling disregard for legal immigrants who have lawfully become citizens of this country. It’s so interesting how quickly Democrats forget about legal immigrants as they champion and excuse unlawful border crossings.
There is nothing immoral, unethical, or bigoted about enforcing the immigration laws of the land. This is something which Biden should know by now, particularly since he is running to become the 46th president of the United States.
