When candidates are able to draw in support, there are usually some similarities amongst those followers. For instance, a great majority of people who support 2020 candidate Tulsi Gabbard are tired of establishment politics and eager to see change within the Democrat Party. Likewise, folks who back candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are generally more supportive of far-left policies and “progressivism.”

As of late, the behavior of certain Sanders supporters has come under fire. According to Breitbart News, several folks backing the socialist senator are responsible for issuing online threats against union leaders who have yet to endorse any of the running Democrats, namely Bernie Sanders.

Former vice president and 2020 candidate Joe Biden brought this up while speaking with NBC’s Meet the Press. According to Biden, if his supporters behaved in the aforementioned manner of Sanders’, he would “disown” them.

A Closer Look at the Actions of Sanders’ Supporters

When speaking with Meet the Press, Biden alleged that Sanders is not wholly “responsible” for the deeds of those who support him. However, the former vice president then charged that the socialist candidate “has some accountability.”

Biden continued, declaring that if any of his supporters threatened union leaders, he would “flat disown them.” Thus far, Sanders has yet to either respond to Biden or account for the actions of his rowdier supporters.

Biden’s assertion that Sanders ought to disown certain supporters comes as the former vice president attempts to further his own campaign. What’s more is that Biden has yet to win a single caucus or primary; the poor state of the 2020 Democrat’s campaign is largely engendered by his poor treatment of voters and tendency to lash out when challenged.

Will Sanders “Disown” His Rowdier Supporters?

At this time, there is absolutely nothing to indicate that Sanders will disown any of his supporters. It would be a politically stupid decision, especially in light of the socialist’s victory in New Hampshire and his lead over candidates in Nevada.

Sanders may not disown his supporters, but the DNC may disown Sanders. Multiple developments have indicated that higher-ups within the Democrat establishment have turned their attention to Mike Bloomberg.

While the DNC once considered pulling their strings to ensure that Biden wins the nomination, the former vice president’s poor turnouts in Iowa and New Hampshire have raised some concerns.

Whether or not Bloomberg or Biden wins the Democrat Party’s nomination will only be determined in time; however, it wouldn’t mark the first occurrence of the DNC rigging the primaries against Bernie Sanders.
