At this point, the contrast between open states and lockdown states couldn’t be more obvious. The economies in open states are bouncing back at a much faster rate than their locked down counterparts.
The argument that everyone must stay on lockdown for the greater good just isn’t flying anymore. States like Florida and Texas are open and have not engendered the high death rates that officials claimed would stem from reopening.
As it turns out, lockdowns are not popular, even in blue states. While Democrat leaders in these communities are more than happy to keep the restrictions going, many of the states’ residents don’t share this sentiment.
In fact, Washington Examiner confirms that tens of thousands of New York residents have moved to Florida.
Goodbye New York, Hello Florida
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ data between the months of September 2020 and March 2021 speaks volumes. According to the information provided, more than 33K New Yorkers traded in their New York driver’s licenses for licenses in Florida.
The latest information from the Florida government is keeping with other details that have come out. Reportedly, hundreds of folks per day are moving to the Sunshine State; moreover, this record is expected to maintain up until 2025.

New York is an infamous lockdown state with high taxes, and as of late, a vaccine passport program. Residents of New York with the means and ability to get out are therefore making their escapes.
Florida, unlike New York, is an open state without intrusive government restrictions. Furthermore, the Sunshine State has made it law that neither businesses nor government can require vaccine passports or proof of vaccination.
The Self Destruction of Blue States
Ultimately, the invasive and restrictive policies of blue states are turning out to be their own undoing. New York, for instance, recently saw its number of congressional seats decline, due to population drops. This is an ongoing pattern for the Empire State, one that is accelerating with high taxes, lockdowns, and now vaccine passport programs.

It is no secret that more and more Americans want out of blue states. Florida gets fuller every day; meanwhile, other red states like Texas, Tennessee, etc., are gaining more and more residents.
On the basis of the 2020 census, only seven congressional seats will change states—the smallest number in recent history. All of the states gaining seats are in the South and West: Texas, Florida, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, and North Carolina. https://t.co/tkZ4T51Nc0 pic.twitter.com/EACqecFNXF

California, another blue state, is meanwhile losing residents due to high taxes, restrictive government mandates, etc. As Democrats profess that these measures are for safety and the greater good, they’re only driving more and more people away.
What do you think about the mass numbers of people leaving states like New York for Florida? Do you believe Democrats in blue states will ever see the error of their ways? Let us know in the comments section below.
