Sheriffs addressing the dilemma at the southern border are criticizing Washington, D.C. for proclaiming a public emergency in response to migrants shuttled into the liberal city by Texas and Arizona.
They are displeased with claims that the migrants have transformed D.C. into a “border town.”
Border Sheriffs: They Are Not Border Towns
In response to the migrant buses that have been arriving in Washington, D.C. since April from Texas and Arizona, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a public emergency declaration on Thursday.
She claimed by making the change, the city would be able to establish an Office of Migrant Services to offer migrants housing, healthcare, transportation, and other utilities.
She is one of several liberal mayors of self-declared “sanctuary cities” who raised concerns about the wave of immigrants arriving.
Blue cities are scrambling after getting only a taste of the crisis caused by President Biden’s open border policies.
We must secure our border and stop the flood of illegal immigrants. https://t.co/fUY9spKTKT

Sanctuary Cities Deal With Biden’s Policies
Boyd is one of many sheriffs and border officials who claim D.C. and New York are only experiencing a fraction of what border states have been dealing with.
The executive director of the Southwestern Border Sheriff’s Coalition, former Texas Sheriff Clint McDonald, told Fox News Digital, “the sheriffs on the border are already experiencing this every day.”
Don't say your a sanctuary city then declare a state of emergency over illegal immigrants being bussed in.

When sheriffs confronted over 10,000 migrants in the past, he said, “not a single federal person has come down to assist with that.”
Therefore, he continued, “We don’t feel sorry for these folks.”
The residents of that border, according to both sheriffs’ groups, are overburdened and exhausted as a result of the crisis’ ripple effects and months of interactions totaling more than 150,000 people.
Boyd said he agreed with Abbott’s decision, claiming it brought attention back to the border situation, which he said liberal media outlets had been ignoring.
“Governor Abbott’s decision to guarantee the message began to travel through channels that historically disregarded the problem was a fantastic move,” he said.
Thompson encouraged Washington and other liberal cities to stop pointing the finger at border states and instead concentrate on the Biden administration.
“Now that there are places and people who are actually hurting, they want to place the blame on someone else.”
“They ought to call the White House right away, then. Speak with the president who owns the policy, whose policy it is. Acknowledge what is driving the surge that we see.”
McDonald stated to Fox News Digital that Democrats are also upset about the problem, in addition to Republican sheriffs.
“People living near the border are aware that this is neither a red nor a blue issue. This is a red, white, and blue problem. In light of everything that is now happening at the nation’s souther border, it’s time for America to look out for its citizens.”
“As it currently stands, we simply aren’t doing it right now.”
