For months, public officials in both the political and health sectors have faced criticism. Measures such as lockdowns, stay-at-home orders, face mask mandates, etc., are becoming increasingly more unpopular as time goes on.
Adding to the unrest surrounding these measures is the reality that the folks implementing them often don’t abide by them.
Democrats such as Austin Mayor Steve Adler, California Governor Gavin Newsom, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, CNN news anchor Chris Cuomo, and countless others have repeatedly harped on the merits of lockdowns, mask mandates, and gathering limits, only to later get caught in breach of these guidelines.
Americans aren’t happy and the examples of leaders failing to abide by their own edicts continue to mount. Health “expert” Deborah Birx has now announced that she will retire; this announcement comes after backlash over her decision to travel for the holidays after urging Americans to abstain from gatherings with loved ones, per Breitbart News.
A Closer Look at Birx’s Impending Retirement
During a recent Newsy interview, Birx informed that she will retire after having provided assistance in “any role” people prefer. While speaking publicly, Birx also informed that the COVID-19 restrictions she’s promoted have adversely impacted members of her own family.
According to the health official, her relatives suffered depression and stopped eating and drinking; Birx then acknowledged that “households across America” are also struggling with similar circumstances.

The healthcare official has furthermore grappled with the backlash against her decision to travel in breach of her own recommendations. When speaking about this before the public, Birx stated that her travels were for the purposes of a possible property sale; nonetheless, this is still in violation of the very same health measures she’s called for Americans to follow.
Not Leading by Example
Despite Birx’s explanations about her holiday travel, she and various Democrat politicians continue to come under fire. These public figures are not leading by example; likewise, they’re definitely not following the edicts they enact or promote.

Therefore, some Americans are questioning why anyone should abide by the aforementioned COVID-19 restrictions in light of leaders’ behaviors. The double standards, coupled with the adverse impacts of shutdowns, mask orders, etc., are only contributing to Americans’ frustrations and problems.
