Defense Money Pours in for Ex-Marine in NYC Metro ‘Manslaughter’ Case

A massive wave of donations amassed over $1.2 million for the defense of former US Marine Corps soldier Daniel Penny.

He is facing a “manslaughter charge” over the death of Jordan Neely, a man with mental problems threatening passengers on the New York City subway.

The case in which Jordan Neely, a 30-year-old homeless black man with a police record, was subdued by three men, including Penny, and passed away while in the latter’s chokehold, has been taken up by left as one of a “racist, white supremacist” murder.

Happy with the mayhem and riots they managed to create over the death of George Floyd in May 2020, the radical lefties have been eager to use this new incident in order to advance their vicious goals.

Yet, their attempts at turning Jordan Neely into a second George Floyd are clearly failing. The massive public support for Daniel Perry, the man who reacted for the sake of others’ safety when no one else would, is a clear demonstration of that.

Thus, between last Friday and Saturday, donations for Penny’s legal defense from the public more than doubled from half a million dollars to over $1.2 million, The Western Journal reports.

A law firm, Raiser & Kenniff, P.C., set up the GiveSendGo fundraising campaign to fund the Marine veteran’s legal defense to fight any charges stemming from his heroic actions to subdue Neely when the latter was harassing NYC subway passengers.

Charged by Alvin Bragg with Manslaughter

The report notes an eyewitness recalled the raging homeless man was shouting how he was ready to go to jail or “take a bullet” for killing passengers on the train.

Video footage of the incident has shown Penny grabbing Neely in a headlock, but several other men also helped him to restrain the latter. Neely passed out during the altercation and first responders didn’t manage to revive him.

The former US Marine insists he is innocent and was acting to defend his safety and that of other passengers, according to his attorneys.

Neely himself had been arrested multiple times before; there was a warrant out for his arrest over his assault against a 67-year-old woman in 2021.

Penny was charged with manslaughter, second degree, by Manhattan’s Democratic DA, Alvin Bragg, and faces a potential 15-year sentence if found guilty. He has been released on a $100,000 bail, with his next trial hearing in July.
