Today, Hulu stands as one of the most beloved streaming services. Many people regularly watch movies and TV shows on Hulu; the consistently new content that always appears on the platform also adds to its appeal.
Like many large companies, Hulu gets business from Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and everyone else in between. There’s nothing inherently political about Hulu; although some Democrats believe that can change.
Right now, Hulu is facing criticism from Democrats who believe the company should be running left-wing ads on its platform.
To say that Democrats are upset over not getting their way would be a major understatement, as documented by Newsmax.
No Deal For Democrats
The Democratic Governors Association (DGA), Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) are hard at work campaigning ahead of the midterms.
Due to the widespread usage of Hulu, Democrats also determined that having the streaming service run ads about gun control and abortion would be a great way to get the message out.
BREAKING: @Hulu is REJECTING our ads calling out GOP attacks on abortion access and gun safety. Their shady policies amount to outrageous political censorship.
Americans deserve to know the truth about these issues, and Hulu has no right to block it. https://t.co/xEfpgASoBU

However, Hulu isn’t going for it. What’s really upsetting Democrats is that Hulu also hasn’t given them an express reason for why they’re declining to back the party’s efforts to campaign.
Ironically, Democrats are branding Hulu’s refusal to run leftist ads as a form of “censorship.” They believe the streaming service should be forced to platform ads on gun control and abortion.
The Truth of the Matter
Despite the Communications Act of 1934 that mandates broadcasting companies to run ads from both Republicans and Democrats, Hulu is a digital platform, meaning this law doesn’t apply to Hulu.
Despite Hulu’s refusal to do the Democrats’ bidding, the party managed to get its ads on other platforms, including Roku, YouTube, NBCUniversal, and even Facebook.
The party may do well to cut its losses with Hulu and focus on these platforms, rather than trying to bully and strong-arm the streaming company.

Polls already show Democrats are in hot water when it comes to the approval of their president. Crime, inflation, and gas prices are also vital issues that stand to work against the Democrat Party as the midterms approach.
On top of these issues, it’s now being widely acknowledged that the United States has either entered a recession or is about to enter one. This, rather than Hulu, might be a topic the Democrats should focus on.
Nevertheless, some left-wing supporters have taken to social media, demanding that Hulu be boycotted as a result of not running ads to help the Democrat Party.
What do you think about Hulu’s decision not to run the Democrat Party’s ads? Do you believe other digital platforms should follow suit? We’re very much interested in reading your take in the comments area below.
