There is no denying that House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the rising darling of the Democrat Party. Not only has the freshmen congresswoman gained a reputation as the leader of “The Squad,” but she’s also right on board with the socialist principles and far-left ideologies which Democrats continue to embrace.
Very recently, Ocasio-Cortez endorsed Bernie Sanders’ campaign for president and has stumped for him on multiple occasions. Sanders himself is also quite a big fan of the congresswoman and has frequently praised her work in politics.

This year, Ocasio-Cortez’s popularity within the Democrat Party officially reached the level of certain folks wanting her to become president. Washington Examiner reports that the desire to see the congresswoman become commander-in-chief is especially popular amongst young Democrats.
Why Young Democrats Want “President AOC”
In essence, a considerable amount of young Democrats view Ocasio-Cortez as the voice and future of the Democrat Party. This doesn’t really bode well for the left, but they don’t quite see this yet. According to young Democrats, the congresswoman is “an important national voice” and “a leader in the progressive movement.”
At this time, Ocasio-Cortez does not qualify to become president, seeing as she is not yet 35 years old. Furthermore, the congresswoman will not be able to serve as Bernie Sanders’ running mate, much to the chagrin of many far-left Americans. However, Ocasio-Cortez herself has stated that serving as Sanders’ running mate would be her “honor,” even though the law doesn’t yet allow this.
While Ocasio-Cortez cannot be Sanders’ running mate, the 2020 Democrat maintains that if he wins the White House, she’ll have an “important” role in his administration.
Fantasy Meets Reality
Talk about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ever becoming president is downright laughable. She may be popular amongst the progressive wing of the Democrat Party, but never in a million years would she win a general election.

Young Democrats are entitled to rally behind who they like, but choices have consequences. If Ocasio-Cortez is, in fact, the future of their party, that’s very bad news. Over the past few years, the Democrat Party has rapidly regressed into a party of socialism, big government and hatred of success. In the short-term and the long-term, this will continue to weaken the left and ensure that they lose election after election for decades to come.
