DeSantis is Leading Trump in a New Florida Poll

The 2024 presidential election season is coming quickly with the approach of the November midterms. Right now, both parties are largely focused on winning as many seats in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Nevertheless, various polls continue to come out, showing how prospective candidates may fare in the 2024 presidential race.

As this happens, voters within both parties are deciding who they want to run for office. They’re also having to ask themselves which candidate they believe stands the best chance of defeating the opposition.

In the case of many Democrats, much of the base is determining that Joe Biden will be a liability in the 2024 election. Meanwhile, a new 2024 poll shows former President Trump trailing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, as documented by Newsmax.

A Closer Look at the New Poll

This week, the University of North Florida’s (UNF) Public Opinion Research Lab released polling that shows DeSantis leading the former president in a poll amongst Florida Republicans.

This shows that 47% of right-wing Floridians would back DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, just 45% stated their vote would go to Trump.

Other details from the poll provide some interesting insight as well. 47% of Floridians on the right believe DeSantis and Trump are acquaintances in their relationship, whereas 42% believe them to be friends with one another.

Just 8% expressed their views that DeSantis and Trump are secret enemies.

As the polling pertains to DeSantis running for reelection as governor of Florida, he’s shown beating out both Democratic contenders, Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist.

In this regard, DeSantis has consistently led every single Democrat opposing his efforts to win a second term in the governor’s mansion.

The Bigger Picture

At this point in time, it remains to be seen whether or not DeSantis even chooses to run for president in the 2024 election.

The Florida governor hasn’t explicitly ruled it out; however, he has stated that his current focus rests with delivering for the people of his state.

Yet, with DeSantis basically being a shoo-in for reelection in Florida, some conservatives believe he’s best suited to lead the Republican Party by the time 2024 gets here.

Other candidates who could possibly run for the White House in 2024 include former Vice President Mike Pence, former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, and others.

With appearances set in Iowa and New Hampshire this week, Pence has truly generated talk about possibly feeling out a 2024 presidential candidacy. When asked about this months ago, the former vice president didn’t rule anything out.
