Florida Governor Ron DeSantis condemned the Chinese government’s controversial coronavirus control policy, calling it a gross violation of human rights.
According to DeSantis, the Chinese government is exerting absolute control over the locals under the name of its “zero-COVID” policy.
Republicans Slammed Biden For Not Speaking Against Chinese Human Rights Violations
China is currently practicing the “Zero-COVID” policy, which consists of forced lockdowns, quarantines, a complete shutdown of businesses, and compulsory testing until the country gets rid of the coronavirus.
Even after seeing the human rights violations in China, Biden’s White House is reluctant to criticize them.
On Tuesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted the US believes every Chinese citizen has a right to protest. Though the White House failed to denounce the inhumane crackdown against the people who are protesting against restrictions.
These soft-hearted comments of the White House prompted Republicans to issue a more strict response to the Chinese government.
During a press conference on Tuesday, DeSantis noted China is employing a draconian policy to control COVID, which completely violates the basic liberties of the people.
Furthermore, DeSantis claimed Chinese policies are completely unscientific, which means locals are protesting against the government for all the right reasons. DeSantis also claimed draconian policies are part of history, so they can never be implemented in the modern-day world.

Republican Senator Marco Rubio also slammed Biden for his soft-hearted response to the Chinese government.
Rubio noted Biden was unable to condemn his Chinese counterpart because he wanted to suppress the protests against COVID restrictions in the same way in the United States.
Speaking on a Fox News show, Rubio claimed the policies of the Chinese government are like the far-left ideology propagated by Democrats during the early days of the pandemic.
Likewise, Rubio added mainstream media was forcing former President Trump to impose the same draconian lockdowns in America which are implemented in China these days.
In addition, Rubio asserted the Chinese are also human beings, which means they want to go out to work and socialize with their family members, which is getting impossible under the current restrictions.
It’s awkward for Biden to support COVID protestors in China because there’s nothing happening in China right now that Biden wouldn’t do himself if he could get away with it.

Massive Protests in China
Republicans’ claims came in the wake of recent protests in various cities in China, including Shanghai and Beijing.
Reportedly, the current protests pose a significant challenge to Chinese President Xi Jinping, who has mostly suppressed any type of public demonstration during his rule.
Once Republicans criticized Biden for his soft response, Democratic Senator Mark Warner said Biden’s recent meeting with Xi was supposed to cool down tensions between both countries, so the Biden administration does not want to start any conflict with China again.
Warner also added that senators can easily speak against China, compared to the federal government. As the protests spread nationwide in China, two cities, Guangzhou and Chongqing, announced to curb the lockdown restrictions.
