Last week, the state of Florida suffered some serious damage from Hurricane Ian. Not all of the state was forced to confront power outages, flooding, home loss, etc., but certain communities were.
The Florida National Guard and other first responders are hard at work conducting rescue missions and otherwise aiding folks who need to get back on their feet.
However, in the middle of all this, there’ve been some concerns about individuals who may try to take advantage of the chaos. This could involve looting, stealing from other people, or otherwise taking measures they wouldn’t ordinarily think about.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a warning for these folks, as documented by Breitbart News.
A Very Critical Warning From DeSantis
During a Fort Myers press conference, the Florida governor officially announced that looting and other acts of crime aren’t going to be tolerated.
DeSantis then reminded how Florida itself is a state that believes in the Second Amendment, which means potentially anything could be waiting for intruders within an individual’s home.
After stressing that trying to loot or break into someone’s home isn’t worth it, the Florida governor stressed the state’s belief in law and order once more.

These words from DeSantis are very important. In Florida, Attorney General Ashley Moody determined that folks arrested for looting during this time are going to sit behind bars without the option to bail themselves out.
In making this call, Moody also announced that Florida won’t turn into a replica of left-wing states where people can loot and then be released on their own recognizance within hours just to repeat the bad behavior.
Fort Myers is one of the areas in Florida that suffered significant damage from Hurricane Ian last week. On social media, images and videos have gone viral of flooded homes, downed trees, downed power lines, and more.
Florida Carries On
Despite the damage that Hurricane Ian left in its wake, Florida is still carrying on. DeSantis, Moody, and other leaders throughout the Sunshine State have been clear that the rebuilding process is going to continue.
Getting power back to folks who lost it continues to be a priority, as does providing assistance to people in need of it.

DeSantis, for instance, has been touring across Florida, working with first responders, and even meeting with some people who suffered extensive damages from Hurricane Ian.
While Florida certainly has a long road ahead, there’s no denying the state will persist in its efforts to rebuild and come back better than ever.
