Since the Trump presidency, various social media sites have come under fire for the censorship of conservative users.

Time and time again, Trump supporters and others on the right-wing report experiences of account deletions/suspensions, shadow bannings, video demonetizations, etc. While these accusations have spanned across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, actual footage of Twitter employees discussing the manipulation of algorithms to censor conservatives has surfaced over the past few years.

Now, with the 2020 presidential election underway, it appears as though the censorship is increasing. Yesterday, first son Donald Trump Jr. took to Instagram, criticizing the platform for intentionally censoring and shadowbanning his account.

Additional reports from The Daily Caller News Foundation moreover confirm that yesterday doesn’t mark the first, second or even third time that Don Jr. has run into these issues with Instagram.

Don Jr. on the Latest Shadow Banning from Instagram

When calling out the social media platform, the president’s eldest son clearly articulated the timeline of the latest shadowban on his account.

Don Jr. maintains that the gradual approach of the 2020 caucuses and primaries engendered a decline in his Instagram analytics. The first son furthermore noted that the low analytics linked to his Super Bowl ad simply didn’t coincide with the hours of time it remained uploaded on his feed — especially in comparison to his other content.

In criticizing Instagram for censoring and shadowbanning conservatives, Don Jr. also pointed out the desired ultimate endgame which is “to influence [the] election” and stop Americans from following prominent right-wing voices. The eldest first son has furthermore addressed censorship in his bestselling book Triggered which hit shelves last year.

Response from Instagram

Facebook, the owner of Instagram, has stated that Don Jr.’s account does not presently have any restrictions. However, the first son’s experiences of censorship are far from an anomaly.

Liberal Silicon Valley’s ties to big tech companies and social media platforms are no secret. When conservatives are consistently reporting issues with social networking sites across the board, that’s problematic. The reality here is that ever since Trump’s election, there have been concerted efforts to not only shut him down, but also to silence, intimidate, and disparage the character of Americans who support him.

The sad part is that censorship on social media is only the tip of the iceberg.

What do you make of Donald Trump Jr. repeatedly experiencing shadowbans and censorship on his Instagram account? Do you believe these experiences will become more frequent as we get further into the 2020 election? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
