To this day, many Americans are expecting former President Trump to announce he’s running for the White House again in 2024. The ex-president hasn’t expressly stated he plans to go for the presidency again; although, he’s strongly hinted at it.
Trump’s also stressed the need to drain the swamp and get rid of deep state corruption that presently exists in government. Much of Trump’s base is also very much in favor of him running for the White House again.
However, there are some officials, even on the GOP side, who don’t necessarily share this sentiment. Some Republicans believe Trump is too marred in scandal and baggage to successfully get back into the Oval Office.
In the case of former Attorney General Bill Barr, he’s warning that Trump’s on a revenge mission more than anything else, per The Hill.
Barr on Trump Making Another Run For the White House
During the former attorney general’s interview with CBS News, he was clear that he’s no fan of Trump running for the White House again.
Barr told CBS News that the GOP has a bright future with the 2024 presidential election opening up many possibilities for the party. He went on to say Republicans can achieve a “decisive victory” with the candidate who is appropriate for the job.

However, Barr made it clear that he doesn’t believe Trump is going to be the right candidate for the next presidential election. According to the former attorney general, Trump’s seeking “revenge” for losing 2020 and will be a “lame duck” who is pushing 80 years old.
Barr and Trump have previously butted heads over differing views about the 2020 presidential election. The former attorney general has consistently rejected Trump’s claims that the race was rigged against him or stolen.
Another Option For 2024
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues to come up as a potential choice for the GOP to nominate in 2024.
DeSantis has served in the military, along with as a congressman and governor. He’s also secured popularity in his own right, owing to his leadership in Florida.
DeSantis with Trump backing him, campaigning for him, and advising him would be absolutely unstoppable. But it requires Trump to swallow his ego and come to terms with the fact that he's an elderly man who already had his shot. I really hope he's able to do that, but I doubt it.

In certain polls, DeSantis has even led Trump amongst preferred GOP candidates for the next White House race. However, time will tell whether or not the governor chooses to pursue a presidential run.
DeSantis hasn’t ruled anything out, but it remains to be seen which direction he ultimately chooses to go. There are certainly a decent number of conservatives who would be very much pleased to see him run for president in 2024.
What do you think about the former attorney general’s comments about Trump making another run for the White House? Do you want to see Trump as a 2024 presidential candidate or would you be happier with someone like Ron DeSantis running for office?
