On Wednesday, James Comey, a former director of the FBI, asserted the agency wasn’t a leftist faction out against the GOP.
Comey’s remarks came shortly after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated on “Fox and Friends” this Tuesday that a contempt of Congress case could be filed against FBI Director Christopher Wray, if he failed to hand over a subpoenaed file.
Conspiracies
The document describes a purported criminal conspiracy involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreigner.
Comey stated in an appearance with host Poppy Harlow on “CNN This Morning” that he believes it’s primarily former President Trump and those near him who view the FBI as an enemy and have used a blowtorch to dismantle it.
He said the belief that the FBI is some type of left-wing conspiracy out to get Republicans was extremely unfortunate and absurd.

The FBI has been accused of politicization in cases that involve pro-life advocates and parents petitioning at school board meetings, as well as censorship of accounts.
This is based on documents provided to journalist Matt Taibbi by Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk.
Investigation Into Trump
Also, Special Counsel John Durham issued a report on the background of the FBI’s investigation into allegations that former President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign worked with Russia.
He wound up concluding that the FBI did not and was unable to corroborate the claims contained in the discredited Steele Dossier.
Comey told Harlow the FBI would be alright in the long term and things would change.
He thinks the fever surrounding Trump and MAGA world will ultimately subside, but the notion that the FBI is out to get the GOP has become an absurd article of faith.

On August 13, 2018, the FBI dismissed agent Peter Strzok, who had a key part in the Trump inquiry, over texts to FBI attorney Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was having an affair.
Strzok mocked then-presidential prospect Trump while looking into alleged collusion between the campaign of Trump and Russia.
