Legal investigations into former President Trump by the Justice Department remain ongoing. Thus far, the department is reviewing the former president over the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021 and his oversight of classified records.
Trump, for his part, warns these investigations are politically motivated and not serious by any means. The former president has gone on record to caution about the corruption within the deep state and various parts of American government.
He’s also been vocal about the January 6 committee, accusing the body of overlooking important information for the sake of a political narrative against him.
On Monday evening, however, the FBI ransacked Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, thereby sending nationwide shockwaves, per Breitbart News.
What to Know About This FBI Raid
The FBI’s ransacking of the former president’s home was part of a search warrant being implemented to find documentation brought to the estate. Multiple reports inform that Trump’s personal safe, offices, and quarters are where federal authorities focused their attention.
During this raid, the FBI also ended up confiscating boxes of presumable records and other items that aren’t known at this time. According to former first son Eric Trump, the National Archives wanted to ensure the former president didn’t have any sensitive records in his possession.

Meanwhile, an attorney representing Trump says he’s worked openly with the Justice Department and FBI each time. Trump’s legal counsel then claimed that Monday’s raid was totally unexpected and unannounced.
During the FBI’s ransacking of Mar-a-Lago, Trump was not on the premises.
Response From the Former President and More
On Monday evening, Trump released a very clear statement about the behavior of federal authorities.
Per the former president, America’s faced with “dark times,” seeing as nothing like this has been directed towards an ex-president before.
Trump then went on to warn the country that the justice system is ultimately being employed against him as a political tactic to keep him out of the 2024 presidential race.

After warning that various tactics will also be enacted to block Republican and conservative victories in the November midterms, Trump compared what happened to Mar-a-Lago to the infamous Watergate scandal.
Amid news of the ransacking, social media erupted. Much of the former president’s base accused the FBI of corruption, claiming that Joe Biden is ultimately behind all of this.
In the hours afterward, footage also showed Trump supporters appearing outside the ex-president’s estate with pro-Trump apparel and signs.
