Florida Professor Forced Out of Job After Unsavory Acts

There is a lot of debate these days about our nation’s education system. That includes not just K-12, but also the curricula that’s being disseminated to college students.

Courses that involve critical race theory, DEI, and other similar ideologies have come under immense scrutiny. Critics rightfully believe that these programs only foster division and feelings of victimhood where neither are necessary.

Unfortunately, various cases of these lesson plans materializing in classrooms continue to emerge. According to the Daily Mail, this was so bad for one professor in Florida that he ended up being booted from his job.

Trouble at Florida State University

Eric Stewart previously pulled close to $200,000 per year as a criminology professor at Florida State University. However, problems for him started to emerge when he began fabricating studies that made racism seem more widespread than it actually is.

Accusations of him falsifying data go all the way back to 2006. However, Stewart’s chickens finally came home to roost in 2020 after a committee formed to review the accusations against him.

Since then, Stewart has gone AWOL, which looks to be the end of him working at Florida State University.

Some of his allegedly doctored studies assert that the population growth of black and Hispanic Americans led to a push for harsher criminal sentences for these demographics. He’s also said to have lied about the number of respondents and other key details.

The Bottom Line

It goes without saying that anyone who is willing to lie and doctor data should not be responsible for teaching students at a university.

The willingness to bend truth for the sake of fitting a political narrative likewise shows that Stewart suffers from a very serious character flaw. It remains to be seen if other cases like this are found to be an issue at additional univerisities across the country.
