As the 2020 presidential election plays out, Americans aren’t hesitating to wonder which Democrat candidate will win the nomination and face President Trump in a general election.

For awhile, there was some talk about Joe Biden; although, multiple oral blunders and other problems with Biden have caused him to slip in the polls. In the wake of the former vice president’s decline, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Pete Buttigieg have surged in polls.

Nevertheless, some people still view the prospect of Biden facing President Trump in the upcoming general election as viable. Fox News’ The Five co-host Lawrence Jones even professed that if Biden somehow wins his party’s nomination, Trump will “filet” him in the 2020 election.

A Closer Look at Jones’ Assessment of Trump vs. Biden

Despite Biden’s aforementioned campaign struggles and slip in the polls, Jones did opine that the former vice president will ultimately win his party’s nomination.

Throughout Biden’s time as a 2020 candidate, his campaign has worked overtime to brand him as the “most electable” Democrat. In recent weeks, questions about whether or not Obama will endorse Biden have come up; the former vice president has attempted to address these questions by claiming that he asked Obama not to endorse him just yet.

In additional remarks with his The Five co-hosts, Jones professed that Biden is a “wounded” and “weak candidate.” Stating that Democrats “want to win,” the co-host also claimed that “no matter how crazy the activists and the Twitter activists are,” Democrats are eager to beat President Trump next year.

Will Biden Win His Party’s Nomination?

Ultimately, only time will tell whether or not Joe Biden wins his party’s nomination. Some Americans have predicted that Biden will be the Hillary Clinton of 2020. However, in the wake of poll gains by Warren, Sanders, and Buttigieg, other people maintain that Biden might not get his party’s nomination after all.

As a result of various campaign struggles, the former vice president is now accepting the financial backing of super PACs and other influential donors. This comes in spite of Biden previously speaking out against PACs and claiming that he’s above taking their money.
