Whenever the outgoing chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Maxine Waters, is involved, you know everyone’s getting a good laugh out of it later. The FTX hearing was no different, even though Sam Bankman-Fried was a no-show.
The company’s current CEO, John Ray, was left to his devices to clean up the mess created by SBF. He testified that FTX was involved in commingling customer funds and affiliated nonprofits to advance their own vanity projects and woke agenda.
GOP congressman prevents premature ending to FTX hearing, Waters can’t handle not having things her way
Ray added that what FTX left behind in terms of recordkeeping was embarrassing to say the least, claiming he’s seen better from a majority of other failed companies; whereas FTX declared what was essentially a paperless bankruptcy.

Naturally, Waters attempted to end the meeting prematurely before any other committee members managed to get a question in. Then, when she started her closing remarks, she was interrupted by Lance Gooden, who demanded to take his turn to question the witness.
Despite his efforts, Waters did a short consultation with her aide and promptly continued to ignore Gooden, after which the Texas representative raised his voice and demanded a parliamentary inquiry.
Waters, who’s well on her way out of the committee anyways, snarled in Gooden’s direction, allowing him to have his five minutes of questioning with John Ray.

$300k donated to House Democrats by SBF
This sort of behavior is a testament to her incompetence. It is baffling why people have continuously re-elected this old, bitter hag to be the committee’s chair, who’s obviously overstayed her welcome in Congress.
In fact, the only time Maxine Walters can be seen smiling is when she’s thanking the left-leaning megadonors like SBF, who’s behind this entire charade with FTX, a failed company that scammed its own customers out of their money.
It’s more than likely that Waters tried to end the hearing to avoid any questions about Sam Bankman-Fried’s involvement in the midterm elections, as well as the millions he’d donated to Biden’s campaign in 2020.
SBF gave Democrats so much cash from his FTX ponzi scheme, Maxine Waters is not going to subpoena him to testify. Incredible.

It was previously found that Bankman-Fried donated over $300k to Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee, with Chuy Garcia, Ritchie Torres, and Sean Casten receiving the bulk of this ill-acquired money.
Fortunately for the rest of us, Maxine’s days in the committee are slowly ticking to an end. She will be replaced by Republican Patrick McHenry in a matter of weeks, just like Kevin McCarthy taking over Pelosi’s House Speaker position.
The overly entitled Waters won’t be a fan of being in the minority, but with her pompous attitude and outbursts of elderly rage, it’s bound to be a fun time for those watching. This article appeared in The Record Daily and has been published here with permission.
