Homeland Security Department Reveals Controversial New App

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been plagued by negative perceptions for quite some time. Since Joe Biden’s presidential tenure began, the southern border has quickly devolved into a mess.

Meanwhile, DHS Secretary Mayorkas insists that all is well at the border, notwithstanding empirical data showing otherwise.

Many conservatives also have concerns that the federal government is actively encouraging illegal immigration, rather than upholding law and order at the southern border.

Currently, the Homeland Security Department is once again under fire, this time for a new app being launched, according to Breitbart News.

What to Know About the New DHS App

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) One app is going to be used to assist migrants looking to gain entry into America. With the CBP One app, migrants will be able to set appointments at select border entry locations.

Conservatives warn this app will only further motivate illegal immigrants to come across the southern border. DHS, on the other hand, argues CBP One is going to give migrants a fair shake and allow border officials to final decisions regarding admissions into America.

Advocates of legal immigration and border security have echoed the concerns of conservatives. For instance, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is cautioning that with this app, DHS is actively giving migrants a pathway to making illegitimate asylum claims.

FAIR also pointed out that if the Biden administration was serious about curbing illegal immigration, it would be upholding the laws already on the books.

A Disaster Waiting to Happen?

With the introduction of CBP One, it remains to be seen what metrics will be used to determine whether or not migrants are granted entry. Critics of the app warn that more illegal immigration is going to take place with fewer safeguards.

The new app released by DHS has likewise been branded as a smokescreen for the Biden administration to feign serious steps towards dealing with border problems.

To this very day, the Biden administration has yet to share with Americans how this app is going to bring down the increased numbers of border crossings over the past nearly two years.

Though the Homeland Security Department did confirm that CBP One will be primarily for migrants from Central America and Mexico. Coincidentally, each of these communities has seen high rates of migrants making their way to the United States in order to gain entry.

What are your thoughts about the Department of Homeland Security introducing a new app for migrants to make appointments for potential entry into the United States? Do you believe this will increase or drive down the rates of illegal immigration?
