Not everyone is meant to become president of the United States. Since the inception of the 2020 race, many Democrats have thrown their hats into the ring, believing themselves to be the fated leftist pioneer to defeat President Trump. As time goes on, more and more candidates are dropping out, as they realize that the presidency isn’t meant for them.

Last year, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Bill de Blasio, and a series of other leftists ended their presidential campaigns after financial struggles and the inability to gain real momentum.
Now, former HUD Secretary Julian Castro is the latest Democrat to bow out of the 2020 race. Castro announced the end of his campaign earlier this morning, according to reports from Breitbart News.
The End of Castro’s 2020 Presidential Campaign
The former HUD Secretary took to Twitter in order to formally announce his decision to stop running for president. In this announcement, Castro noted his “profound gratitude” for the men and women who supported his ambitions to become the 46th president of the United States.
He continued by telling everyone that the fight for “an America where everyone counts” isn’t over. Castro also made sure to include his pride for “everything we’ve accomplished together” since he started running for president. This pride interestingly comes in spite of Castro’s failure to distinguish himself from other candidates and effectively compete with the many other Democrats seeking their party’s nomination.
In the former HUD secretary’s video statement, he explained the realization that 2020 “isn’t [his] time” to become president engendered his decision to stop seeking the Oval Office.
What Led to the Downfall of Castro 2020?
Low poll numbers, lack of qualifications to appear on debate stages, and poor strategies each played a role in the failure of Castro’s presidential campaign.

Throughout his time as a 2020 candidate, Castro struggled to raise funds in order to remain competitive and get his name on the radars of voters and potential left-wing supporters. Failing to meet the DNC’s thresholds to appear on debate stages with other candidates didn’t help his cause either.
In the final days of his campaign, Castro attempted to raise funds by warning of his dire political position, but ultimately couldn’t make the cut. The HUD Secretary is the first candidate to end his campaign in 2020.
