There was a time when the Democrat Party recognized the importance of border security and legal immigration. Believe it or not, members of the Democrat Party even previously talked about the construction of physical barriers at the Southern border. However, those days are long gone, as anyone who keeps up with politics knows.
In the left-wing’s regression into radicalism, they’ve abandoned all reason on policy and what’s best for this country. Now, Democrats are all in favor of open borders and have moreover called for the decriminalization of illegal border crossings. In the deeply misguided attempt to stick it to President Trump, the Democrat Party continues to dig their own grave, both in the 2020 presidential election and future elections to come.
Last night, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski called out socialism, open borders, and the 2020 Democrats who favor both, as documented by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Lewandowski on 2020 Democrats and Open Borders
During an appearance on Fox Business, Lewandowski discussed his thoughts on the 2020 presidential election and the various Democrat candidates. When asked about Elizabeth Warren and the support she has amongst the Democrat establishment, Lewandowski stated that Warren will generate the greatest electoral loss for Democrats and furthermore fail to garner support from patriotic Americans.
In Lewandowski’s own words:
“I think if the Democratic party wants to get beat in the worst electoral loss since Ronald Reagan’s re-election, then they should absolutely make Elizabeth Warren their nominee. […] Don’t forget, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, they’re avowed socialists. They want to redistribute your wealth. Anybody who’s made something successful, they want to take it away from you. They want to have illegal aliens come across this border and kill Americans.”
Why Do Democrats Favor Open Borders?
If you ask Democrats if they want open borders, most of the time, they’ll claim that they don’t. However, the facts simply don’t bear this out. On multiple occasions, 2020 Democrats have stated that unlawful border crossings should not be considered as crimes. That’s open borders. Somewhere along the line, leftists decided that enforcing the immigration laws of the land equates to xenophobia and inhumanity; it’s simply not true.
In a nutshell, Lewandowski’s assessment of the 2020 Democrats is sound. Warren may manage to appeal to radical progressives and other left-wingers, but she won’t get the votes from other Americans who actually do care about the nation. At this point, however, there has been no indication that the Democrat establishment will cease their support for Elizabeth Warren as a 2020 presidential candidate.
