Democratic Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney responded on Sunday to criticism leveled against the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) for providing financial support to GOP candidates in Republican primaries who former President Trump backed.
Maloney argued Democrats are doing their jobs to prevent “dangerous MAGA Republicans” from holding office.

“Dangerous MAGA Republicans”
Maloney stated to Chuck Todd, the host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” that Democrats most certainly did not prioritize the party’s requirements over those of the country.
He said it is a matter of the utmost importance right now to ensure the “dangerous MAGA Republicans” who voted to invalidate the results of elections are kept out of office.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee aired ads in this year’s Republican primaries supporting candidates who affirmed Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was rigged.
This is a bet that the far-right, more extremist hopefuls will lose to Democrats in districts that are competitive.
In the Republican primary earlier this month, contender John Gibbs, who is backed by Trump, was victorious against incumbent GOP Rep. Peter Meijer. Maloney and the DCCC came under fire after they aired an advertisement in support of Gibbs.
Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, the guy who used *DCCC* money to get an insurrectionist/election denier the edge in Michigan to win a congressional seat, talks about hard Dem legislative work (when he has worked/voted to strip down Obamacare to tatters). Weird. Vote @Biaggi4NY! https://t.co/yOXKMJp7aj

After the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, Meijer was one of ten Republicans in the House of Representatives who voted to impeach President Trump.
On Sunday, Maloney stated the Democrats now have a far better chance than they had before of winning that Michigan seat in November. He referred to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy as the “big loser.”
It Might Backfire
Maloney stated to NBC that his goal is to win contests for the Democrat Party.
He considers that carefully because the moral duty is to keep the gavel away from the hands of Kevin McCarthy. The latter might have reversed the results of the 2020 presidential election if he had been given the opportunity.
Maloney continued by saying he was aware that not only were there severe ethical concerns, but also challenging philosophical questions about methods. In the realm of politics, it is always the case.
The conversation proceeded with Maloney stating John Gibbs is a feeble adversary and a hardliner with a history of viciously opposing people’s right to choose their own life decisions.
In addition, he said Gibbs is incapable of putting together a coherent plan of action that takes into account the needs of western Michigan. Maloney then said Democrats will be successful in winning that seat.
Democrats feel they are addressing the greater moral imperative by preventing those “dangerous individuals” from gaining power in the first place. That is the role they play.
It will be humorous, to say the very least, if their plans come back to bite them in the rear end. Many have speculated that would be the case. Only time will tell. This article appeared in The Political Globe and has been published here with permission.
