Oh, Brother: Broward’s Biggest Coward, Suspended Sheriff Scott Israel, May Have A New Gig

Former Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel is back in the news.

Israel made headlines in 2018 following his extremely poor management of the school shooting which took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Now, the former sheriff of Broward County is attempting to secure new employment as Police Chief in Opa-locka, Florida, reports Townhall.

Everything You Need to Know

News of Israel’s attempt to find work in Opa-locka as police chief has spread rapidly and there are many people who aren’t happy. The man truly dug a hole for himself last year, not just because he poorly handled the high school shooting incident in Broward County, but also because he continuously passed the buck instead of stepping up and taking accountability for his actions.

When Israel was subsequently fired for the way he dealy with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, he pointed fingers at the National Rifle Association (NRA) and claimed that the organization controls the governor of Florida.

Issues in Opa-locka

Opa-locka is not just any random place in Florida. As a matter of fact, the city is known for the corruption and dirty dealings which serve as major plights. Many people believe that Israel is attempted to profit off the issues facing Opa-locka by becoming the police chief.

What Leadership is all About

It appears as though Scott Israel is a fan of being in leadership roles. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this, but in order to be a leader, there are certain values which one should possess. This doesn’t mean that a leader has to be perfect, but it does mean that they should take responsibility for their actions, even when the outcome isn’t good. This is something which Israel failed to do during his time as the sheriff of Broward County.

Unless he’s actually learned a lesson, Israel is likely to repeat the same pattern, in the event that he gains employment in Opa-locka.
