COVID-19 and the mitigation measures that followed turned many people’s lives upside down.
Everyday Americans were barred from going to work, keeping their businesses open, spending time with loved ones in hospitals, traveling, getting “elective” medical attention, and more.
People were told that harsh restrictions and vaccines would play a role in defeating COVID; however, this just hasn’t panned out.
The virus is still around today and people are forced to live with the lingering impacts of restrictions, lockdowns, and other measures.
Amid all of this are serious discrepancies over the origin of COVID and whether or not it was intentionally tampered with in order to be more infectious to people. This is known as gain-of-function research.
Sen. Rand Paul is now warning a recent hearing into gain-of-function research and its funding shows that White House COVID adviser Anthony Fauci lied about the matter altogether, per Breitbart News.
A Matter of Grave Concern
On Wednesday, Paul spoke with Fox News about the findings from a recent hearing on gain-of-function research and what its implications are for the future.
In a nutshell, the Kentucky Republican warned the National Institutes of Health did, in fact, fund gain-of-function research, despite claims to the contrary from Fauci.
Sen. @RandPaul :"Gain-of-function research has the potential to unleash a global pandemic that threatens the lives of millions, yet this is the first time the issue has been discussed in a congressional committee." pic.twitter.com/iRcNhqYrL2

Furthermore, Paul notified Fox News that shipping DNA synthesizers and humanized mice over to the Chinese communist regime for experimentation ought not to be legal.
The congressman then explained his support for bipartisan-backed legislation that would block this from happening in the future.
After confirming that Fauci has been misleading Americans, Paul said more hearings are necessary, in addition to greater oversight, should additional pandemics materialize in the future.
More Investigations to Come?
Within the past few weeks, there’s been talk about Fauci stepping down from his current role once Biden leaves the White House.
However, many Republicans aren’t too eager for Fauci to simply ride off into the sunset after all he’s done. In fact, like Paul, other GOP lawmakers have concerns as well that Fauci’s been intentionally deceptive in his statements and claims before the nation.
Today I am hosting a hearing as Ranking Member of the HSGAC Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Spending Oversight to discuss, as our name implies, the emerging threat posed by gain of function research.

Therefore, it is the view of many Republicans that Fauci shouldn’t be able to just go away whenever it pleases him without having to answer for how he’s overseen COVID.
Republicans have consequently been clear that if they take back control of Congress, there will be investigations into Fauci, his claims about COVID, what he knew about the virus while advising the country, and more.
What do you think about the congressional hearing on gain-of-function research thus far? Do you think it’s appropriate to hold Fauci accountable for his leadership since he began advising the nation on how to approach this virus?
