These days, there is a lot of skepticism directed toward the pharmaceutical industry. Many people have reservations about the integrity of companies within this industry.
Likewise, there are concerns about whether or not profit is being prioritized over what’s truly in the best interest of public and individual health. A lot of this mistrust was furthered by the way COVID vaccines were handled, distributed, and then mandated.
Then, in cases when there are certain recalls for health reasons, this also raises alarm bells for certain people.
In one of the latest instances documented by the Miami Herald, medication for blood pressure issues has been recalled due to the risk it poses for cancer.
What to Know About This Latest Recall
Quinapril Tablets were previously released in order to assist with individuals’ blood pressure problems, such as hypertension. Though just days ago, Lupin Pharmaceuticals wound up recalling these tablets, due to an excess of N-Nitroso-Quinapril.
N-Nitroso-Quinapril can cause cancer in individuals who take higher amounts of Quinapril Tablets. Therefore, businesses selling this medication are being made aware of the recall and to discontinue selling any more Quinapril Tablets that they may have in stock.
The FDA announced the second recall in months of blood-pressure medication over an elevated cancer risk. This time Quinapril tablets are being pulled. https://t.co/pe7UlRwfBE

So far, there aren’t any adverse case reports from individuals taking this medication. Though in the event that someone does run into issues, they’re being asked to report this to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) via its MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program.
Keeping an Eye Out
It is particularly important for those on medication, along with loved ones of those taking medication, to keep an eye out for notices and recalls of this nature. Quinapril Tablets aren’t the first medicines to be recalled and they’re unlikely to be the last.
However, being up to speed on recalls puts individuals in the best possible position to know when to stop taking medicine that could harm them.

Individuals who currently struggle with hypertension or other blood pressure issues would also benefit from talking to their doctors.
There may be additional medications on the market that can help with these health issues, while avoiding the cancer risk posed by N-Nitroso-Quinapril within Quinapril Tablets.
This latest recall is not the first that’s been made for medication meant to assist individuals with blood pressure problems, either. This makes it all the more important for people with health issues to ensure the medication they’re taking remains safe and up-to-date.
One can also hope that more studies into medicine will occur so that fewer recalls are necessary of medicines already on the market.
