Romney Unleashes on Trump in New Interview

The number of Republicans who are coming out against former President Trump like never before just keeps on growing. Earlier this month, it seems as though the former president tried to quell this trend by announcing he’s running for the White House again in 2024.

Though many in the GOP are still speaking out against Trump. Just earlier this month, he took fire for having Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and anti-Semite Kanye West over for dinner.

Trump also fell out of favor with many Republicans after he backed GOP candidates in the midterms who failed to win their races. This played a vital role in the Republican Party failing to take back the Senate and losing key gubernatorial elections.

Now, GOP Sen. Mitt Romney is out with new criticism against Trump, as reported by Washington Examiner.

Romney Dunks on Trump

This week, the Utah Republican did not mince words in expressing what he thinks about Trump. Romney declared there’s no limit to the lengths Trump will go to debase himself and the United States.

Romney then continued by saying it was “disgusting” for Trump to break bread with a known anti-Semite and Holocaust denier. In further remarks, the GOP senator said Trump should not be the 2024 Republican nominee, nor should he be the president again.

This prefaced Romney also expressing his aversion to the former president hanging over the Republican Party “like a gargoyle.”

Other Republicans, like former Vice President Mike Pence, have called for Trump to apologize for hosting West and Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago. Thus far, Trump has yet to make any such apology.

Though he has been on Truth Social explaining away the dinner and saying he didn’t know who Fuentes was, despite having him over.

An Unelectable Candidate?

Growing numbers of GOP members are warning that Trump is unelectable and won’t be able to get key voters that one needs to win a general election.

Unlike in primary races, a general election candidate will need votes from moderates, suburban moms, swing voters, Independents, etc.

It is for this reason that more Republicans are throwing their weight behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, saying he should run for office in 2024. Free speech advocate Elon Musk has likewise said he’d back DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election.

Joe Biden and Democrats expressed confidence that they’ll be able to defeat Trump if he turns out to be the 2024 nominee. Biden’s even gone as far as claiming he’d handily beat Trump if the pair had a rematch.
