The American Rescue Plan passed the House of Representatives days ago and is now being debated in the Senate. Within this $1.9 trillion plan includes considerable pork spending, $1,400 stimulus payments, etc.
Democrats are largely for the American Rescue Plan, while Republicans argue that pork spending is excessive, wasteful, and poorly-targeted. Earlier this month, President Biden introduced more conservative eligibility caps on his $1,400 stimulus checks, as a means of appeasing moderate Democrat senators.
Republicans, on the other hand, are working to ensure that the damage of the American Rescue Plan is as minimal as possible. This is why Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz has proposed an amendment that would bar illegal immigrants from receiving stimulus payments, Breitbart News confirms.
A Closer Look at Cruz’s Proposed Amendment to the American Rescue Plan
Today, Sen. Cruz explained that his amendment to prohibit illegal immigrants from becoming recipients of stimulus checks would save the U.S. taxpayer nearly $8 billion dollars. As matters currently stand in the American Rescue Plan, there are loopholes for illegal immigrants to receive stimulus payments, unless a specific measure against this is passed.
The Democrats' so-called coronavirus stimulus bill has nothing to do with stimulus.

In a statement, the Texas Republican censured the particulars of Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending plan. The GOP senator explained that the American Rescue Plan fails to meet the public’s needs while simultaneously forcing taxpayers to fund illegal immigrants.
Cruz then called for Congress to not only pass his amendment, but also to get schools and small businesses reopened. In February 2021, the Texas senator participated in the passing of a budget amendment that discourages stimulus payments to illegal immigrants; surprisingly, eight Democrats from swing states actually supported this budget amendment.
Pushback from Left-wing Lawmakers
Democrat lawmakers are strongly opposed to Cruz’s proposed amendment, as to be expected. Left-wing congressmembers have long supported giving handouts to illegal immigrants; these handouts aren’t mutually exclusive to stimulus checks either.

If Democrats had their way, illegal immigrants would be able to come into America with no issues at all. The left has furthermore vilified any semblance of immigration laws, along with the agencies responsible for upholding these laws. Not only do Democrats aim to give illegal immigrants stimulus payments and a pass from migration laws, but they also want illegals to be granted voting rights.
