President Biden reversed a number of policies put in place by former President Trump.
He reiterated his support for a two-state settlement for Israelis and Palestinians and announced plans to increase financial help to the Palestinian people.
Biden Can’t Do Foreign Policy
After spending some time with Israeli officials in Jerusalem, Biden met with Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, as well as other top Palestinian leaders.
He then went to the Church of the Nativity, which Christians believe to be where Jesus was born.
The president then mentioned his government’s plans to put into place a number of economic and confidence-building measures that aim at raising the standard of living for Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza.
However, Biden refrained from denouncing Palestinian terrorism, which has in the past thwarted peace efforts and sparked numerous rounds of violence with Israel.

In addition, the president said the United States would contribute more money to UNRWA, a contentious U.N. organization that supports and promotes the rights of Palestinian refugees.
In a discussion with Mahmoud Abbas, the chairman of the Palestinian authority, on Friday in the West Bank, President Biden reaffirmed his unwavering support for the two-state option.
He asserted that Israel and the Palestinian people both deserve independent states with “equal measures of freedom and dignity.”
Biden went on to say the United States “won’t give up trying to bring Israel and Palestine nearer together.”
He declared “the violence must stop” because “too many families” have been destroyed.

According to him, Saudi Arabia has allowed Israeli airlines to fly in its airspace, following the leaders’ signing of the “Jerusalem Proclamation.”
This “deepens America’s dedication to Israel’s security, the pitched battle against Iran’s nuclear program, and the advancement of normalization projects of the Abraham Accords and the Negev Peak.”
He remarked, “I do want to congratulate President Biden for a trip that moved our whole country and for his dedication to Israel’s military and diplomatic strength.”
At the Jeddah meeting in Saudi Arabia, he wished Biden “well” in his work and praised the Saudi government “for the openness of Saudi airspace.”
“This is just the beginning,” he went to say. “For the benefit of Israel’s economy, security, and the welfare of our population, we will continue to operate with the appropriate prudence going forward.”
