On Monday, Georgia Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene said in a tweet that a national divorce is necessary.
These remarks from the Georgia firebrand are run for the trend for Greene, whose prior utterances have gotten her in trouble with Democrats and even with the leadership of the Republican Party.
We need a national divorce.

Greene stated she is sorry for the QAnon content posts that she has made in the past.
These posts included information about various lights and beams of different colors that were controlled by a Jewish family that was leading a left-wing cabal. Greene, as mentioned, expressed regret for these posts.
Greene made her name as a candidate who ran against the establishment and was known for being a vocal critic of Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, a Republican from California.
McCarthy was able to get her support before the start of the difficult campaign for the speakership that he was running, but the action did not endear Greene to her colleagues, who were staunch opponents of the now-House Speaker’s gavel bid.

Several Democrats, prominent members of the media, and Republicans who are opposed to Trump all voiced their disapproval of the statement.
On Monday, former Representative Liz Cheney replied to a request for a “national divorce” made by current Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene by implying that the proposal was “unconstitutional.”

Cheney’s response comes after Greene made another call for a “national divorce” earlier on Monday. In doing so, Greene ended up saying that Democratic and Republican states ought to be kept separate and that the size of the federal government ought to be reduced.
Greene has, in the past, made references to a “national divorce” in comments that she shared in 2021. She also stated that Democratic supporters were able to “ruin” California, but that this shouldn’t be possible for them to do in Florida.
On Monday, Greene voiced her opinion about the possibility of a national divorce just after she had attacked President Biden for making an unexpected trip to Ukraine.
The opinions expressed by the Georgia Republican are emblematic of a broader tendency in the political philosophy of the United States.
A survey conducted in 2021 found that support for secession was on the rise across the United States, particularly among Republicans in the southern states.
