Biden and Democrats in Congress have been thick as thieves in their agenda to pass legislation without any bipartisan support.

The American public witnessed this transpire with the pork bill known as the American Rescue Plan; now, Biden and his allies in Congress are attempting to pull a similar stunt with gun control, the anti-worker, anti-business PRO Act, and more.

Doing away with student loan debt is another agenda that Democrats have in mind. For some unfathomable reason, the political left believes that student loan debt should be “erased,” which can only happen by passing the debt onto U.S. taxpayers.

According to Breitbart News, President Biden is facing pressure from Democrats to end $50,000 in student loan debt.

The Push to “Forgive” $50,000 in Student Loan Debt

On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats in Congress gathered for a press conference. Schumer spoke about the American Rescue Plan and whether or not President Biden has the legal, constitutional authority to erase student loan debt via executive order.

At this time, Schumer informed, the Department of Justice is assessing the matter. However, the Senate Majority Leader also professed that erasing $50,000 in student loan debt “legislatively” will prove challenging, due to a lack of GOP support on the matter.

Earlier this week, Schumer tweeted out that student loan debt significantly burdens people of color; hence, the Senate Majority Leader argued that Biden and Harris erasing student loan debt would greatly close the “racial wealth gap.”

Biden on Canceling $50,000 in Student Loan Debt

Democrats have made very clear their preference for Biden to erase student loan debt. Although, the 46th president has already spoken out about this matter.

During a town hall event last month, President Biden declared that he would not eliminate $50,000 in student loan debt. Therefore, it stands to reason that even if the Justice Department does determine that Biden could erase this debt via executive order, Democrats shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for this.

Many Americans believe that folks who knowingly take out student loans should pay them back. Others have complained that due to interest rates on student loan debt, they’ll never be able to fully pay them off.

What do you think about Democrats pushing President Biden to do away with $50,000 in student loan debt? Should people who willingly take out student loans be responsible for paying them off? Let us know in the comments section below.
