Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), a defunct leader of the House Republican leadership, will be attending a rally for Democratic incumbent Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) this week.
There will be an “Evening for Patriotism and Bipartisan Cooperation” in Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday night, featuring Cheney.
She was removed from her position as House Republican keynote chairperson in 2021 after she publicly criticized erstwhile President Trump for his involvement in the Jan. 6 revolt at the Capitol.

Unlikely Allies?
The national security concerns of both Cheney and Slotkin, who both sit on the House Armed Services Panel, have been given their full attention. In a statement, Cheney expressed her support for Elissa Slotkin.
Having worked together on the Armed Services Committee, Cheney says she has come to respect Slotkin as a dedicated public servant who cares deeply about the constituents she serves and the nation’s welfare.
She continued by saying while they may disagree on some policy issues, the country needs Elissa and others like her in Congress now more than ever to help deal with domestic and international dangers.
She appealed to Republicans, Democrats, and Independent voters alike to vote for her in the upcoming election by saying she deserves their support.

In the newly created 7th Congressional District, Slotkin is running a close race against state Sen. Tom Barrett (R), a veteran of the Army who served in the Senate.
Despite their many policy differences, the Michigan Democrat praised Cheney for her backing and said she believes lawmakers need to reach across the aisle.
“At a time when the very foundations of our democracy are being questioned, Rep. Cheney’s voice has been indispensable.”
“I appreciate her vote. I’m pleased with how we’ve helped fortify America’s defenses and international standing. It’s no secret we’re going through a rough patch as a nation,” Slotkin added in a statement.
“Engaged citizenry and principled leaders from both parties have historically helped the United States through difficult periods.”
“While we may not always see eye to eye, I am looking forward to welcoming Rep. Cheney to Michigan’s 7th District next week to explore the ways in which we can all put America before partisanship and personal gain.”
Impending Downfall
The daughter of erstwhile Vice President Dick Cheney rose rapidly in the House GOP conference before being reprimanded by her peers for criticizing Trump.
After being singled out as a major target by the former president, she was ultimately defeated in the primary election by Harriet Hageman, who Trump backed.
Cheney is the co-chair of the Jan. 6 select committee and has been under fire from fellow Republicans for joining it.
Having disagreed strongly with both Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Greene, the Wyoming politician, who alluded to a possible presidential campaign, recently told the New York Times she would much prefer to work with Chrissy Houlahan, Mikie Sherrill, and Elissa Slotkin.
