Since the inception of Donald Trump’s entry into politics, he’s prioritized the reduction of crime and the safety of the American people.
A significant part of reducing crime and fostering safety involves cracking down on dangerous drug cartels which remain intent upon doing harm. While Democrats claim that being tough on crime is inherently evil, this president recognizes that protecting the country is deeply imperative.
Earlier this morning, Trump took an austere and long overdue stance against the drug cartels via Twitter. The president’s remarks come shortly after new, innocent lives were claimed in the crossfire of disputes between drug cartels. As a result, Trump called upon the Mexican government to join the United States in permanently erasing drug cartels from this mortal coil.
Reviewing President Trump’s Statements on Drug Cartels
The president began his remarks by noting the unfortunate loss of life and missing individuals in Utah. Trump noted that the president of Mexico has previously indicated an interest in taking action agains the various drug cartels; he then went on to note that America is willing to be of assistance in any way possible.
In Trump’s own words:
Finally, the president concluded his remarks by noting the importance of a “WAR” against drug cartels. Trump professed that the United States is looking forward to a call from the Mexican leader in order to end the drug cartels once and for all.
The Merits of Being Tough on Crime
In left-leaning circles, there’s a narrative that being tough on crime is somehow villainous, racist, or evil. The reality is that this narrative couldn’t be further from the truth. Being tough on crime preserves life and would have saved the individuals in Utah.
When Democrats censure the idea of being tough on crime, they often assert that poverty is an excuse for criminal wrongdoing. This is a lie which the left has told for decades in order to excuse lawlessness, but it simply doesn’t hold water. There are countless individuals in this country who have worked hard and pulled themselves out of poverty without resorting to criminal activity.
The American people must continue to reject the leftist notion that being tough on crime is a fault, as opposed to an asset. That type of flawed logic only emboldens the drug cartels and other vicious lawbreakers. Liberty, safety, and prosperity of the American people each demand strict action against those who place innocents in peril.
