It seems as though Rep. Ilhan Omar simply cannot stop making uncalled for and inappropriate comments, yet she has the audacity to wonder why people view her as an anti-Semite or question her Americanism.
This time, however, the newly elected congresswoman is under fire for making contradictory comments involving Israel, Palestine and various organizations which she claims to support, as documented by Townhall.
Everything You Need to Know about Omar’s Latest Statements
If you let Omar tell it, she is merely supportive of a “two-state solution.” Her own remarks about the matter read as follows:
“I support a two-state solution, with internationally recognized borders, which allows for both Israelis and Palestinians to have their own sanctuaries and self-determination. This has been official bipartisan U.S. policy across two decades and has been supported by each of the most recent Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as well as the consensus of the Israeli security establishment.”
Now, to the average person, this may sound fairly benign and reasonable. However, when you begin to dig deeper, that’s when Omar’s positions start to make less and less sense.
While the congresswoman claims to support the “sanctuaries and self-determination” of Israeli and Palestine, she also champions the Boycott, Disinvestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, a movement which is widely regarded as anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, but Omar is still determined to try.
Of course, Omar was questioned about how she can support a two-state solution, while also championing its polar opposite, the BDS movement. Not wanting to have to face her hypocrisy, the congresswoman avoided answering this question.
At the end of the day, Omar’s support for the BDS movement speaks volumes and makes more sense than her being supportive of a two-state solution. Ilhan Omar is the same woman with a track record of making anti-Semitic commentary and offering very lackluster apologies only after backlash ensued. This is not a well-meaning woman.
The only question now is: how long will Democrats continue to support her?
Is standing behind Omar’s anti-Semitism really worth tanking an already struggling Democrat Party? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
