Following the New Hampshire primary election, Andrew Yang announced the suspension of his presidential campaign. Now, while Yang might have made this call, the same cannot be said for all of his supporters. As a matter of fact, new reports from Townhall indicate that at least a portion of Yang’s base is now considering supporting President Trump. For some Americans, support for Yang and support for Trump are not as far apart as one might think.
Why is Yang Gang Now Team Trump?
Yang’s exit from the 2020 race has caused some of his supporters to default to Team Trump for a simple reason: they’re not pleased with the current state of the Democrat Party and how the party treats voters who aren’t hardcore left-wingers.
Many of Yang’s supporters were drawn to him because of his emphasis on unity and willingness to embrace nontraditional voters. Some of Yang’s base has moreover indicated that while they don’t always agree with Donald Trump, the president “keeps things real” about “who he is.”
As seen above, one Yang supporter pointed out his issue with how Democrats demonize “moderate or right-leaning” individuals, especially those who maintain some conservative outlooks. While Yang didn’t necessarily go down this road, candidates like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, and others certainly did and continue to do so. In the long run, this is hurting not only their campaigns, but also the collective Democrat Party.
Yang voters have also expressed issues with the manner in which the Democrat Party treated the tech entrepreneur. During Yang’s time as a presidential candidate, he consistently clashed with networks like MSNBC who all but ignored his candidacy and refused to ask what Yang viewed as a sufficient amount of questions on the debate stages.
The Bigger Picture
The aforementioned shift from Yang Gang to Team Trump only signifies the extended collapse of the left-wing. As long as Democrats continue alienating and vilifying folks who are not hardcore leftists that can tick each checkbox, they’ll continue to bring about their own downfall.

Yang supporters are more than welcome to join Team Trump. As numerous GOP officials have made clear, the Republican Party is an open, wide, and diverse tent of Americans. As the radical left continues to embrace socialism and demonize anyone who isn’t ultra-progressive, Republicans will proceed in welcoming people and forging forward to four more years of President Donald Trump.
