Ex-Boyfriend ARRESTED—Machete Rampage Leaves Two Victims…

A 29-year-old Nicaraguan national faces two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend with a machete during a home invasion in Green Bay, Wisconsin. David Joel Mairena-Garcia later told police he simply wanted to kill them both.

Silent Attack Leaves Victims Hospitalized

Police say Mairena-Garcia used a key to enter the residence on Edgewood Drive without warning. According to the criminal complaint, he immediately began striking both victims with a machete without speaking a word. The male victim, a 23-year-old Green Bay resident, suffered wounds to his shoulder, forearm, and shin. The 26-year-old woman, with whom Mairena-Garcia shares a child, sustained lacerations to her hand and neck plus a head injury.

The woman told investigators that Mairena-Garcia had previously made multiple death threats against her through text messages and in person. Both victims fled the home during the assault. The male victim ran down Edgewood Drive while Mairena-Garcia pursued him with the weapon before getting into a black SUV and driving away. Law enforcement used Flock camera technology to track the vehicle and apprehended him during a traffic stop shortly afterward.

Suspect Confesses to Deadly Intent

During questioning, Mairena-Garcia admitted he saw his ex-girlfriend and another man in what he considered his bed. He told police he lost control and blacked out from rage. The suspect stated his only thought was wanting to kill both victims. After fleeing the scene, he discarded the machete from his vehicle. Officers recovered the weapon when Mairena-Garcia led them to its location following his arrest.

Immigration Status and Criminal History Surface

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed an active hold on Mairena-Garcia, who officials confirm is in the United States illegally. Court records reveal he already had an established criminal history in Wisconsin before this violent attack. He received three guilty verdicts for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license and currently has an open case for hit-and-run. The suspect remains in Brown County Jail on a cash bond set at $750,000. Authorities have not released updated information on the condition of either victim or confirmed whether the child was present during the attack.
