Virginia Teachers CAUGHT Pushing Gerrymandered Map on Students

Two Fairfax County civics teachers sent students home with explicit instructions to pressure their parents into voting for a controversial redistricting amendment that would hand Democrats a 10-1 congressional advantage in a state Kamala Harris won by just five percentage points. The measure passed narrowly on Tuesday with 51.45% support.

Students Used as Political Messengers

Kelly Sadler, who served as a Special Assistant to President Donald Trump, described picking up her 14-year-old twin sons from school on Friday when both asked about her voting plans on Virginia’s redistricting measure. The boys reported that two different civics teachers had urged them to convince their parents to vote yes to make Virginia’s maps “as fair as they can be” and “stop Donald Trump at all costs.” Sadler immediately recognized these as Democratic campaign talking points flooding the commonwealth. The teachers presented the measure as a fairness issue while concealing its partisan impact.

The Gerrymander Behind the Ballot Question

Virginia currently maintains a balanced six-Democrat-to-five-Republican congressional delegation under maps widely praised as among the fairest in the country. The Democrat-controlled legislature’s proposed replacement would pack Republican voters into a single ultra-safe district while carving up the rest to create 10 safe Democratic seats. This would hand Democrats a net gain of four U.S. House seats heading into the 2026 midterms. The ballot question asked voters whether the Constitution should be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in upcoming elections while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes after the 2030 census.

Fairfax County Provides Decisive Margin

Despite strong Republican opposition and warnings about the partisan nature of the proposal, the amendment passed narrowly on Tuesday. Fairfax County, a deep-blue Northern Virginia stronghold where the incidents occurred, voted overwhelmingly in favor with roughly 71% supporting the measure. This massive margin from the county helped provide Democrats with the decisive statewide advantage they needed to approve the constitutional amendment and redraw Virginia’s congressional maps.
