Upon the officer’s request, Marquez discarded the brick and also placed a knife he had been carrying onto the ledge.

The situation escalated when the officer noticed the handle of a machete concealed under Marquez’s clothing. With swift action, the officer drew his service weapon and commanded Marquez to raise his hands.
